Sister in Red

60x36in

Oil on canvas

2024

“I roll up her sleeve, my sister in red.

The dress that I made, on her instead.

But the catch is, it was for her all along.

She took my place, my ticket and bag.

I’m left with the burden, it’s mine to bare.

She wears my dress, she breathed my air.

As I wave goodbye, and she doesn’t answer,

I roll down her sleeve and kiss her forehead.

She’s off on the train, the seat that I paid.

My identity in hand, and left where she came.”
